Back to Nature
As a way to escape from the “hustle and bustle” of city life in Hong Kong, the team at Crown Records Management decided to host a Gei Wai Shrimp Harvesting Program at the Mai Po Nature Reserve. The Crown team, along with a group of clients and friends, enjoyed a day outside and took some time to get “back to nature.”
The tour is given by the WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature (formerly known as the World Wildlife Fund). WWF Hong Kong is one of Hong Kong’s leading environmental charitable organizations. It was established in 1981 to ensure a better environment for the present and future generations in Hong Kong through implementation of a wide range of focused conservation and environmental education programs in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
WWF conducts this tour, where visitors learn about the traditional operations of the ponds, participate in the harvesting of gei wai shrimp and enjoy an evening stroll to Mai Po to discover Mai Po’s nocturnal animals, such as hundreds of roosting birds, bats and fire flies. The wetlands around the Mai Po Marshes and Inner Deep Bay in the northwestern corner of Hong Kong have been known as a haven for migratory birds for many decades.
Crown Records Management is pleased to support the WWF. It was a time to spend with family and friends, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the nature reserve, learning about the wetlands and the wildlife as well as practicing gei wai harvesting. What better way to end the evening but with dinner feasting on the “harvested shrimps” Everyone young and old had a truly enjoyable day and enjoyed nature at its best.
